Swedish Medical Center is discussing putting in a stand-alone Emergency Room on the site of the Puget Park Drive-In Movie Theater off I-5 exit 186. This Emergency Room would sit between major local hospitals like Providence Everett Medical Center and Stevens Hospital. It would be 9 miles south of Providence Everett Medical Center and 9 miles north of Stevens Hospital in Edmonds.
The location is not on any public bus routes, making it less accessible to those without money for their own means of reliable transportation. Patients would also have to be driven to one of the other hospitals if they required a hospital stay. Given that, even patients who are closer to this emergency room than the others may be driven to the other hospitals to avoid having to transport them later for additional medical care.
